Why does it take a long time for me to log in to a College computer?

With Windows 10, a complex user profile is created during a login.  There are many factors that contribute to login time.

  • Computer lab classroom computers keep your profile for at least a week, so your first login might be as long as 5-7 minutes, but your second login on the same computer will be under 1 minute.
  • Open lab computers clear profiles every few days, so most of the time you are creating a new user profile on login.  This can take 3 minutes on a computer that has been on, and 5-7 minutes for a computer that was just turned on.
